The Month To Take Massive Action!
Mujeres, let me tell you a story that reminds me of the power we hold when we choose to take massive action. Back when I was working a full-time job in education — a job I deeply believed in — I had convinced myself I didn’t have the time to finish my dissertation. A whole year had passed, and my advisor finally sat me down.
“Is this something you really want?” he asked.
“It is,” I replied. “It’s something I really want.”
“Then what’s getting in the way?” he said.
I sighed and said, “Life. I have a child now. I have a partner. There’s just no time in the day to get this done.”
But here’s what shifted everything: I realized that I had been waiting for the perfect time. I had been holding back on something I deeply wanted because I believed the conditions had to be ideal. That conversation made me pause and ask myself: How can I create the time and space I need to make this happen?
My advisor offered me that space — literally. He and his wife opened up the second floor of their house to me for a weekend. I moved in on a Friday night and tackled my dissertation revisions with everything I had. Chapter one and two on Friday, three and four on Saturday, and five on Sunday. I finished because I had clear focus, support, and determination.
This same process happened when I launched my business as a coach and trainer. In 2020, I was leading an organization that served over 17,500 people. As the executive, I woke up one day with a gut feeling: this wasn’t where I wanted to be. It wasn’t that I didn’t belong — I just felt deeply that there was something more for me out in the world. That realization pushed me to leave my position and take three months to reflect on what I wanted to create. I asked myself: What tools did I need as a woman of color to thrive in that role? I came to a powerful conclusion: women of color need intentional systems and support, not just to survive but to thrive.
Designing my coaching business started with addressing my own doubts and gaps. I didn’t have all the tools yet, but I decided to invest in myself. I signed up for a coaching program and committed to it. Massive action meant working on my skills while also building my client base. My first client came to me because I had clarity about what I wanted to offer: support for overwhelmed women, women in leadership positions, and women who felt like they were the only ones in the room.
I learned that clarity attracts opportunities. I found clients in unexpected places — even at the playground, where moms were juggling kids and their own dreams. What society told me I needed — a perfect website, social media presence, or polished brand — could wait. My focus was on offering value and helping women of color leaders thrive. As my capacity grew, I expanded to offer workshops, trainings, and leadership development. Along the way, I learned to streamline and refocus, always returning to the lessons of massive action: clarity, consistency, and doing what matters most.
What I learned from these experiences is something I want to share with you: Massive action doesn’t come from waiting for the right moment. It comes from deciding that now is the time and carving out the space to make it happen. Let’s dive into what massive action looks like for you.
What Is Massive Action?
Massive action isn’t about being busy or overwhelmed. It’s not filling your day with tasks that look productive but don’t truly move you forward. Here’s the difference:
Busy work: Checking emails, rearranging your desk, tweaking small things that don’t really matter, or spending time on tasks that feel productive but aren’t meaningful.
Massive action: Tackling the work that directly aligns with your dreams and priorities. It’s writing that business proposal, making that phone call, or taking the first step toward launching your project.
Reflecting on my dissertation and business launch, I realized massive action requires three key elements:
Clarity of purpose — Knowing exactly what you want to achieve.
Focus — Eliminating distractions and committing to the task at hand.
Consistency — Building habits that ensure you keep showing up for your goals.
The “Not Enough Time” Myth
Many of us feel like there simply aren’t enough hours in the day. You might be balancing a career, family, community responsibilities, and more. But here’s the truth: It’s not about having more time; it’s about prioritizing what matters most.
Time vs. Priorities
We all have the same 24 hours in a day. The question isn’t whether you have time, but whether you’re prioritizing the things that truly matter to you. Like my dissertation and business, I had to decide: What do I want to make room for?
Where Does Your Time Go?
Take one week to audit your time. Be honest with yourself about where your energy is going. How much time is spent on things that don’t align with your bigger goals or dreams?
Reclaiming Time
Batch similar tasks (e.g., respond to emails all at once instead of throughout the day).
Say no to commitments that don’t serve your priorities.
Delegate when possible to lighten your load.
How to Take Massive Action
1. Get Crystal Clear on Your Goals
Start with what truly matters to you. Instead of saying, “I want to improve my career,” say, “I want to apply for three leadership roles by the end of February.” Break your big dreams into smaller, actionable steps that you can tackle daily or weekly.
2. Identify the One Thing That Matters Most
Each day, focus on the single most important task that aligns with your goal. Ask yourself: If I could only accomplish one thing today, what would have the biggest impact? For me, it was completing one chapter at a time or designing one key section of my workshop.
3. Commit to a Power Hour
Dedicate one uninterrupted hour daily to massive action. During this time:
Turn off notifications.
Close unnecessary tabs.
Focus solely on your priority task.
Celebrate your progress afterward.
4. Build Systems and Habits
Massive action isn’t just about big bursts of energy. It’s about building habits that keep you moving forward every day. Use tools like planners, digital calendars, or habit trackers. Tie your new habits to existing routines, like planning your day right after your morning coffee.
5. Reflect and Adjust
At the end of each week, ask yourself:
What worked well?
What didn’t work?
How can I align better with my priorities next week?
Breaking Through Limiting Beliefs
Taking massive action requires addressing the stories we tell ourselves, like:
“I have to do everything myself.” → No, you can ask for help. Trust others to support you.
“I’ll never have enough time.” → Prioritize what matters most. Cut what doesn’t serve you.
“I’ll start when I feel ready.” → Start now, even if it’s messy.
“I’m waiting for motivation to strike.” → Action creates motivation, not the other way around. Start small, and watch your energy build.
Why February Is the Perfect Month
January is full of resolutions, but by February, many of us lose momentum. Let’s change that. This is your chance to:
Reignite your energy.
Build habits that support sustained progress.
Take bold, intentional steps toward your dreams.
Your Call to Action
Mujeres, I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed, like there’s too much on your plate and not enough hours in the day. But let me remind you of this: You are capable of incredible things. Massive action isn’t about being perfect or having it all figured out. It’s about showing up for yourself, even when it feels hard, even when doubt creeps in.
This February, ask yourself:
What’s the one dream or goal that matters most to me right now?
What steps can I take to move closer to it?
How can I make time for what I love and what fulfills me?
You don’t have to do it all, and you don’t have to do it alone. Massive action is about doing the right things consistently. Your dreams are waiting, hermana, and so is your joy. Coaching can help you get there! Let’s make them happen — together.
