📖 I Just Finished 168 Hours by Laura Vanderkam...Here’s What Blew My Mind!
This book completely changed how I think about time.
Like so many of us, I used to say things like:
“I just don’t have enough time.”
“Once things slow down, I’ll focus on what really matters.”
“I feel like I’m spinning my wheels but not making real progress.”
But here’s what this book made me realize: We all have 168 hours a week. And the people who build fulfilling, successful lives aren’t working harder—they’re working with intention.
The biggest mindset shift? Instead of saying “I don’t have time,” I am now saying:
👉 “It’s not a priority.”
That one hit hard.
Because the truth is, it’s not that we can’t write that book, launch that business, or take that leadership role. It’s that our time is getting spent on things that don’t serve our highest vision. Even worse, we allow others to take over our time!
Our Relationship with Time
As a woman of color, I know how easy it is to feel like time isn’t ours to control.
We’re taught to overwork, overgive, and prove our worth through exhaustion.
We carry inherited beliefs about sacrifice being necessary for success.
We push our own priorities to the side, waiting for later.
But coaching helped me shift my mindset to:
âś” Get clear on what truly matters and what needs to go.
âś” Stop filling my schedule with tasks that keep me busy but not fulfilled.
âś” Shift from reactive living to intentional design.
âś” Step into my power and say YES to what fuels my purpose.
Your Dream Life Won’t Create Itself—You Have to Claim It
If you’re feeling stuck, let this quote from 168 Hours be your wake-up call:
“A life well spent is lived by design, not by default.”
I’m done waiting for the “right time.” I’m designing my time around what matters most.
What’s ONE thing you’re going to prioritize this week that aligns with your dream life?Â
